About
Presidio Composites is an independent carbon fiber inspection service based in San Francisco, serving the greater Bay Area used-bike market. We produce structured, branded inspection reports that document the structural condition of carbon fiber bicycles.
Why this exists
Carbon fiber damage can be structurally critical and invisible to the eye. A frame can look clean while its laminate is compromised from a crash, impact, or manufacturing flaw. The resulting uncertainty depresses the value of used carbon bikes across the market. Sellers leave money on the table; buyers avoid the category entirely.
Specialists like Ruckus Composites, Calfee Design, and Spyder Composites do excellent work, but they are out of state, or they run long backlogs, or they require shipping the bike in for evaluation. Presidio Composites exists to fill that gap locally: fast, productized inspections with transparent pricing and a standardized report.
How we work
Our inspections are structured. Every report follows the same format, covers the same structural zones, and is delivered as a branded web page private to the customer by default. Our goal is to produce a documented, professional opinion: the same trust function a home inspection provides in a real estate transaction.
We are not affiliated with any bike manufacturer, shop, or marketplace. When a customer is referred by a buyer, we report what we find. When a customer is the seller, we report what we find. The report is the product; the customer is either side of the transaction.
Limits of a photo-based inspection
Photo-based inspection identifies visible damage and documents condition observable in the submitted images. It cannot detect internal delamination, sub-surface voids, or damage requiring ultrasonic, X-ray, or thermographic evaluation. For bikes with a known impact history or borderline visible indicators, we may recommend a more invasive NDT evaluation through one of our referral partners.
